Amorphophallus are a group of tuberous rooted plants that have huge leaves. They are also known as Snake’s Palm or Devil’s Tongue. This variety has a large pink spathe which does have a pungent smell for the first few days when the flower opens! so do not plant next to the front door. They are however a real talking point in any garden and are ideal for the summer border as the leaves make quite a focal point. Not hardy so needs protecting over winter, which can be achieved with a thick layer of mulch.
Aspect: Ideal in semi shade.
Soil types: humus rich soil with good drainage.
