Description
This anemone has single red flowers. Anemone Hollandia are very good for using as cut flowers but they are also a great garden plant. Soak corms in water for 24 hours before planting to aid germination. The flowers of Anemone Hollandia are 7.5cms across and very vibrant. The corms we supply are amongst the biggest available.
Cultivation instructions:
Anemone’s prefer to be grown in the sunnier areas of the garden for best performance. They like to be grown in fertile soils, which can be achieved by adding well rotted humus matter to the soil when cultivating. Alternatively food such as bone meal or rotted compost can be added to the area after planting. Cultivate the soil to a depth of 15-20cms and plant the soaked corms as per the instructions below. Keep soils moist in the first year to encourage good root development.
Ideal for growing in containers and anemones are very popular for using as cut-flower. Anemones work really well when planted with other anemones or with low growing shrubs.
Care tips:
Soak the bulbs for 8-12hrs (overnight) in warm water before planting, keep well watered in their first growing year to help them develop strong roots. Using bulb starter when first planting will help them to establish for future years flowering.
Keep well fed during the growing season and if possible mulch borders with well rotted manure or compost over the winter.
