Description

Anemone St Brigid are excellent for growing to use as cut flowers or just to enjoy in the garden. This mixture of colours is simple superb and includes Lord Lieutenant (blue), Mount Everest (white), The Admiral (violet) and The Governor which is a scarlet red.  They can be grown in the borders or in containers. Soak the corms of Anemone St Brigid overnight until the outer skin is soft to the touch and then of course plant them.

Cultivation instructions:

Anemone’s prefer to be grown in the sunnier areas of the garden for best performance. They like to be grown in fertile soils, which can be achieved by adding well rotted humus matter to the soil when cultivating. Alternatively food such as bone meal or rotted compost can be added to the area after planting. Cultivate the soil to a depth of 15-20cms and plant the soaked corms as per the instructions below. Keep soils moist in the first year to encourage good root development.

Ideal for growing in containers and anemones are very popular for using as cut-flower. Anemones work really well when planted with single early tulips or early flowering daffodils.

Care tips:

Soak the bulbs for 8-12hrs (overnight) in warm water before planting, keep well watered in their first growing year to help them develop strong roots. Using bulb starter when first planting will help them to establish for future years flowering.

Keep well fed during the growing season and if possible mulch borders with well rotted manure or compost over the winter.
