Description

Also known as the Lords and Ladies Arum this arum has some of the most striking foliage which is ideal to use in flower arranging, as its range of colours goes from marbled grey to yellowish green. The flowers of pale yellow are sometimes followed by brilliant orange berries. It is native to the Mediterranean Area but has also been brought into more northerly parts of Europe where it is fully hardy.

Cultivation instructions:

Arums have very striking foliage and are ideal for growing in the shadier, colder areas of the garden. Can be grown in containers but do not let the soil dry out. They prefer to be grown in humus rich soils in the shadier areas of the garden. In soils that are not rich in humus matter use well rotted compost to add to the soil when cultivating. Cultivate the soil to a depth of 15cms and plant as per the growing information below. Keep soils moist in the first year to encourage good root development. They will grow very well with things such as anemone blandas and trilliums.

AGM= Award Garden Merit given by the Royal Horticultural Society. Given to plants that are easy to grow and perform well in gardens.

Care tips:

Using bulb starter or root grow when first planting will help them to establish for future years flowering.
