Violet Beauty is one of our newer chionodoxa and enhances our range very well. With its bluish violet flowers it makes an excellent garden plant and as will all other chionodoxa naturalises very well and can be grown in both sun and partial shade.
Cultivate soils to a depth of 15cms and plant bulbs as per the growing information below. In heavy soils such as clay add grit or humus matter to help with drainage. In sandy soils add organic matter to help with fertility. They will naturalise really well and spread out to cover a wide area.
Protect early growth in the spring from slugs and snails . Ideal foods are well rotted manures, grass clippings, tomato feed and bone meal.
They will naturalise very well, plant in most soils that are free draining. In heavier soils such as clay cultivate the top layer of soil and add grit and well rotted humus and this should provide the drainage that they need.
They work really well when planted with snowdrops.
