Description
Crocus Large Flowering Mixed is a fantastic mixture of large flowering crocus which we hand select ourselves ensuring you get equal quantities of the colours shown. This is a very economic way to do mass planting of crocus and they will naturalise very well.
Large flowering or Dutch crocus are the taller flowering of the crocuses we offer.
Crocus Large Flowering Mixed naturalise very well and as such can be left undisturbed for many years. Cultivate the soil well before planting and ensure they have plenty of food during the leaf and flower stage.
Cultivation Instructions:
Cultivate soils to a depth of 15cms and plant bulbs as per the growing information below. Ideally grown in soils that are humus rich and free draining. In heavier soils such as clay, cultivate the top layer of soil and add grit and well rotted humus which will help to provide the drainage that they need. When planting the crocus in grassland use a bulb planter or ease up the turf with a spade and plant the bulbs underneath. They naturalise really well and will spread out to cover a wide area. A lovely group of bulbs that are ideal to grow in semi to full shade, in the borders/garden or in containers. They bring early colour to the garden, flowering in February/March and of course they work well with many plants and bulbs.
Care tips:
Remember to feed well during the leaf and flowering stage to ensure they grow and bulk up well for subsequent years growth.
The larger flowering varieties are ideal for planting in banks, lawns and grassland.
They work really well when planted with dwarf daffodils and muscari.
