Description
Erythronium californicum White Beauty AGM has slender white flowers with a yellow centre. They are a genus of 20–30 species of hardy spring-flowering perennial plants with long, tooth-like bulbs.
AGM = Award of Garden Merit given by the RHS for great garden performance
Erythronium californicum White Beauty AGM are bulbous perennials with paired, ovate or broadly elliptic leaves, and leafless stems bearing one or more nodding, star-shaped flowers with recurved petals. Erythronium are wonderfully elegant with their slender, upright stems which each carry multiple blooms with exotic-looking reflexed petals. But their long lasting and pretty flowers aren’t their only asset. They also have attractive foliage too, some with striking mottled markings to add to their charm and extend the season of interest and ground cover right through to summer.
Cultivation Instructions
Before planting cultivate the soil to a depth of 4-6 inches deep. Ensure soils are well drained and do not dry out in the summer. Plant immediately on arrival approximately 3 inches deep in a good well drained humus rich soil. They enjoy semi shaded conditions and are ideal for planting in a woodland area.
Care tips:
Work well when grown in the shady areas of the garden
Feed regularly during the growing season with high potash and phosphate foods such as bone meal or tomato food.
