Umbilicatum is a lovely variety with small yellow flowers which have an unusual brown stripe on the outside of the petals and fantastic mottled leaves. Erythronium umbilicatum will make superb addition to shady woodland areas in your garden and if happy will naturalise very well. Plant immediately on arrival in well drained soil approximately 3 inches deep.
Erythronium are bulbous perennials with paired, ovate or broadly elliptic leaves, and leafless stems bearing one or more nodding, star-shaped flowers with recurved petals. Erythronium are wonderfully elegant with their slender, upright stems which each carry multiple blooms with exotic-looking reflexed petals.
Before planting cultivate the soil to a depth of 4-6 inches deep. Ensure soils are well drained and do not dry out in the summer. Plant immediately on arrival approximately 4-5 inches deep in a good well drained soil.
