Description
Lilium Arabian Night is a great martagon hybrid with flowers of deep red that have an orange edge to the petals and spotted red on orange at the centre. Aptly named for the collection of Middle Eastern folk tales. This was compiled in Arabic and told by Scheherazade, the wife of ruler Shahryār to stop him executing her.
A old variety that looks just stunning, Lilium martagon Arabian Night is an excellent garden plant and a very popular lily due to its rich colouring.
Growing Instructions
Plant in well drained soil that has been cultivated to a depth of 20cms if possible plant 10-15cms deep and 10cms apart. They prefer the shadier areas of the garden and at the edges of wooded areas. If planting in heavy soils just add a handful of grit to the hole to help with drainage. Feed when flowering with bone-meal or similar. Once established they will naturalise well in the shady parts of the garden in good humus rich soil.
