Muscari armeniacum and Tulip Foxtrot – 120 bulbs

Description

A great combination of pink and blue flowers. Tulip Foxtrot which is a Double Early tulip and Muscari Armeniacum. The blend of these two flowers are just stunning and are ideal when grown in containers or borders. The pink and blue flowers really do contrast each other.

This collection comprises of 120 bulbs – 20 Foxtrot and 100 Muscari.

Growing instructions

Cultivatesoils to a depth of 15cms and the tulips planted to 10-15cm depth and the muscari at 6-10cms. Leave to flower in the spring.

Muscari armeniacum (Grape hyacinth) are extremely easy to grow and this is the most common of the muscari’s. Muscari armeniacum grape hyacinth has flowers that are a deep blue and the bulbs will naturalise really easily in the garden. They will benefit from being planted in grassland to add that extra interest.

Muscari are ideal for growing in containers especially when planted with tulips or daffodils. Muscari armeniacum is a very common and old variety which has stood the test of time.

Cultivation instructions

Before planting your bulbs cultivate soils to a depth of 20 to 30cms and plant bulbs as shown below.. In heavier soils add grit and or humus matter to help with drainage.  Muscari can be left to naturalise and as such can be left undisturbed for many years. Feed during the flowering and leaf stage with something like bone meal, well rotted compost or similar.

Protect early growth in the spring from slugs and snails and remove dead heads after flowering to prolong flowering period.

Care Tips:

Muscari can spread quite quickly so if this is a concern grow them in pots or alternatively dig them up and thin out the bulbs.

Aspect: Prefer a semi shade location but they will also grow well in full sun.
