Description
Tulip Fringed Bastia flowers are orange flushed brownish red having occasional flames of yellow.
Cultivation Instructions:
The flowers of fringed tulips as Tulip Fringed Bastia are edged with crystal like fringes and also look great in pots and containers. Garden schemes benefit if the tulips are planted in groups of at least 10. Prior to planting make sure the soil is cultivated to a depth of 15 to 20cms. The soil should be free draining to get maximum results from your bulbs. Similarly in heavier soils add grit and rotted humus material to provide extra drainage to the soil. Plant bulbs at a depth of 10-15cms and 10cms apart. Increase this depth in sandy/loose soils.
The best time to plant is from late September through to early December. Therefore when soils are cooling down from the summer, this is most beneficial time for stimulating tulip root growth.
Care tips:
Fringed tulips are great to be planted with late flowering varieties with lines such as scented daffodils and Alliums.
Lift tulips at the end of the season however as a rule, treat as perennials as they do not always come back in subsequent years.
