Triumph tulips are mainly the result of hybridisation between the single early tulips and late flowering ones. They are a very popular group as their is an enormous range of colours and colour combinations to choose from. Ideal for bedding schemes and often used in formal plantings in the stately homes which open to the public.
Triumph tulips come into their own just as the daffodils are giving up their domination of the early part of spring. Flowering in late April they are superb and are ideal for borders, tubs, pots and containers. When planting ensure the soil is loosen to a depth of 15cm and is free draining, in the heavier soils add grit and rotted humus material to give extra drainage. Plant tulips when the ground starts to cool down which is often in October. Tulips do benefit from using bulb starter when first planting.
