Description
Ranunculus Red will provide you with brilliant double coloured flowers that are bright red. These larger than average corms are easy to grow and will provide a good show of colour to any garden. They are also very suitable for growing in containers. Germination of Ranunculus Red will be assisted by soaking in water overnight before planting them 7-10 cm deep with their claws downwards.
Cultivation instructions
Ranunculus are excellent for cut flower, having strong stems and lovely bright coloured double flowers. Ideal to plant in pots or in the borders. They benefit from being planted with low flowering bulbs such as anemones and muscari as well as of course with taller flowering varieties such as tulips and daffodils. Before planting cultivate the soil to a depth of 20cms (if possible) and plant bulbs 10cms deep and 10-15cms apart in well drained fertile soil. Soils should be free draining, so in heavier soils add grit or well rotted humus matter to help with drainage.
Protect early growth in the spring from slugs and snails and remove dead heads after flowering (if not using as a cut flower) to get the best from them.
When planting in containers use a good quality multi purpose compost and grit to ensure drainage.
Care tips:
Soak corms for about 1hr before planting claws downwards.
Do not over water when the corms are dormant.
Cab be used very successfully as a cut-flower. Keep ranunculus well fed during the growing season. Ideal foods are well rotted manures, tomato feed and bone meal.
