Lilium Guinea Gold is an exceptional martagon lily that starts off with pinkish buds that open into golden yellow blooms.
Lilium Guinea Gold is best planted well drained soil that has been cultivated to a depth of 20cms if possible plant 10-15cms deep and 10cms apart. They prefer the shadier areas of the garden and at the edges of wooded areas. If planting in heavy soils just add a handful of grit to the hole to help with drainage. Feed when flowering with bone-meal or similar.
Martagons such as lilium Guinea Gold, will naturalise well in the shady parts of the garden in good humus rich soil. They grow to 3-5 feet tall and have a slight fragrance.
Flowering height: 3-5 feet (90-150cms)
Aspect: Semi shade to full sun. Happy in the colder parts of the garden.
Soil type: Free draining soils that are humus rich and do not get waterlogged.
Pests. If Lily beetle is a problem either spray with an appropriate insecticide. Alternatively pick off the orange adults and check the underneath of the leaves for larvae
